The impact of the climate crisis on our social lives is becoming ever more noticeable. It is clear that without far-reaching changes in the energy, transport and mobility sectors, for example, there is no chance of achieving the 1.5 degree target.
But how do we actually bring together effective climate protection and democratic decision-making? How do we manage to adopt climate protection measures quickly, but not lose people along the way? Can our democracy achieve this? And if so, how?
At our Themed evening: Effective climate protection and citizen participation - is that even possible? we want to talk about exactly that. Using concrete examples from Germany and Europe, we want to show and discuss the interplay between climate protection and democratic co-determination. And we will talk about the Berlin Climate Citizens' Council, whose proposals have now been discussed and largely adopted by the Berlin Senate: Where do we stand, what have we achieved and where do we go from here?
We look forward to exciting presentations by our speakers and stimulating discussions.
