In a world facing global challenges, strenghtening transnational democracy is crucial. The European Union has a pioneering experience with a unique set of participatory tools that include citizens and residents in decision-making. Only participatory strategies and the amplifying of underrepresented voices can democratise transnational governance and make it equipped to handle the biggest challenges of our time.
This is the goal of EU for Global that seeks to build trust in transnational democracy by encouraging democratic participation of traditionally underrepresented groups. For the next two years and with seven partners, we will consult people living in the EU on their views on the role of the European Union in the world to co-design recommendations on EU policies towards global issues.
In the Online Consultation, over 300 people living in the EU share their views on participatory mechanisms and the role of the EU in the world.
In 16 Panels, citizens and residents in eight EU member States deliberate different global challenges and formulate recommendations on how the EU should position itself in the world.
The co-designed recommendations will be presented to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and other high-level political representatives.

This project is co-funded by the European Union. Views and opinions expressed are however those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or CERV. Neither the European Union nor the granting authority can be held responsible for them.
